This is a Chinese sidedish or dessert (whatever you want it to be called) that is enjoyed even by all the other races in Malaysia. It can be dunked in coffee or cut into small pieces and used as a garnish for rice porridge. But most of the time, people just eat them just freshly fried from the wok. Besides, yau char koey, the hawker also sells other types of fried goodies. Flour is the main ingredient and some other secret spices or herbs might be added to give it that extra bit of flavour. I told her that they were for my friend in the United Kingdom and she sportingly posed for the pictures.
When I asked the lady who was frying the yau char koey if I could take some pictures of her at work, she had duly asked me for the reason for them.
